I know of Charlie Fowler from Colorado climbing many years ago, a couple of years after his free solo of the Diamond.

Wasn't sure where to place this, but I just wanted to add a small intro from a new member here. Not a new climber though.

First, let me say thank you for the admission. Someone posted the link on rockclimbing.com and what I find is amazing. Wow, there are others out there!! LOL

I guess my story is not so very different from anyone else. I have been climbing for around 25 years. I did take a few years off while the kids were born and growing. And, really I can credit my kids ...

Have been using this site a few times and am finding great deals on gear; i.e. oval biners at 3.95 each. The site is www.spadout.com They run a bot engine that searches gear suppliers for you.

I was reading the article "The spiritual importance of wilderness" by Jim Doenges. the section on the religion of economics got me thinking of the David Sharpe incident on everest this past year. He was the soloist who was left for dead by around 70 other climbers and several expedition companies. It seems that economics and the face of money has become a religion which is dangerously threatening society today. Just look at the marketing proliferation of Christmas today.

I contrast it to Peter Terbush in 1999, who gave his all maintaining his belay. Also, after reading "the religion of econmics" by Jim Doenges, all too often it seems that money has gained a higher position than Jesus and even people.
