Another great firetower mountain. This is a 1.9 mile hike to the summit with good views of the high peaks to the north. Hopefully some good fall foliage color. Near the town of Newcomb and 1.5 miles away from the adk visitors center.

Martin, What part of SA do you live in? Are you attending a local church there on a regular basis? Welcome to our online community. You are now on e-belay! Climb on!   -Todd

I have a good friend who is working with a local church running an adventure camp near Kokstad. He is a C4C member. How far are you from there? -Todd

Martin, As of right now (as far as I know) C4C does not have any plans for doing anything in Lesotho or RSA on a missionary level.  -Todd

Martin, Trying to walk through this life in a relationship with God without going back to our old sinful ways is a difficult thing that all of us will have to deal with until we are glorified. It is kind of like projecting an extremely hard climb, you know that is possible but you always seem to fall.  The key is to keep trying. Keep climbing. You will get better at it and get a little farther each time.  You need to have the proper kit and fitness in order to be successful on a ...

Martin, Great post! Thanks.

I like this line “I think for some of us being tired is all part of God’s plan, it may just be the only way to get us to listen.”  because that is totally where I am at too.

I will not be going to Lygon's memorial climb. It is on the other side of the country and my funds are below low right now. Like you I will be there is spirit.

Be strong and courageous!

Todd

Martin, How are you doing? I haven't heard from you in a while and I wondered how things are going?  Did you find a church to go to?  I'm praying for you.  -Todd

Hymns for climbers 1/17/2007 9:21:26 AM   (Total replies: 2)
Have you ever noticed how the older hymns seem to be written by climbers or people who spent time in the mountains? If you have a favorite hymn that has a climbing type theme post it here to share!

OK I'll go first. But before I do let me say that Jim Doenges wrote an awesome piece for the creation corner on Creation hymns which you can check out here: http://www.climbingforchrist.org/Default.aspx?tabid=2249

This morning in church our worship leader had us sing How Great Thou Art!
The second verse is the one I like:
When thru the woods and forest glades I wander And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees, When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur And hear the ...

OK here is another one that I like. I know that the origional intent was about ships but I think of climbing every time we sing it. My Anchor Holds The best line is in the fourth verse--"But in Christ I can be bold-- I've an anchor that shall hold." With Christ as our anchor we can run it out with confidence because He will never fail.
